Back to (Almost) Normal

I had my second physical therapy appointment today. Out of curiosity, I tested my grip strength once again. (No jokes about how I've learned how to get along without dating, if you've read my response to one of yesterday's comments. Not because you'll offend me -- it's because I've already thought of it! I want the credit!)

Anyway, I have a grip of about 120 psi in my right hand and 100 psi in my left. (That's up from 40 psi this time last week and perhaps 30 psi sometime two weeks ago.) Resting the arm and doing the prescribed stretches has helped out quite a bit. I'm expecting to be cleared to work again when I see my doctor for the follow up. If I'm not so lucky, I'll end up needing more time of to recover. I'll accept whatever he tells me! (Both options have their ups and downs....)

Nothing edifying in this post. I'm just testing my left hand at typing. It's already tired. Back into the brace, I suppose.

Short and Sweet Humpday
That's the way it's going to be ... I'm typing this out with one hand, and taking my time even at that. I don't want to destroy my last good arm!
I know I'm not cycling through the people from whom I'm lifting my qutes, but I don't care. This particular author has had quite a few one-liners that seem so starkly profound to me -- I just have to share the ones that strike me to my core. (You can go ahead and imagine me cursing: "Dammit! That sound like something I would have written, had I gotten around to it first!" ...What follows is a case in point....)

tell you any different!

In 3 Words
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Preliminary diagnosis from E.R. doctor. I'll need a nerve conductivity test, and I'll need it done before 5/24/05, in order to confirm the diagnosis.
That's what's going on!

Going To Be Taking a Break for a While

I have a doctor's appointment in about an hour and a half -- that bum elbow's learned a new trick. The numbness is gone ... that would be a great thing if it hadn't been replaced by a constant dull ache with occasional sharp pains shooting through my left arm. I've also got swelling and discoloration going on. I had an appointment for a surgery (or a consultation: I'm not sure which) on May 24th. I now doubt that I can wait that long, but I will if I must. I just don't know about working. I can tell you that I really don't want to be typing right now, but I want to let any friends and/or readers know I'm not dropping off the face of the Earth. I'll just be using audio posts until I've recovered.

Have a great day, everyone! Just drop me notes every once in a while to let me know what's going on, and I'll post audio responses to what I get in my comments!

Humpday Quote of the Week!

Anyway, no drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society. If we're looking for the source of our troubles, we shouldn't test people for drugs, we should test them for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power.

P. J. O'Rourke

...I've been picking quotes lately to which I can add nothing....
