The news certainly has been varied lately, as well as the coverage. Although I've not been writing about the news (for good reason--I'm easily disgusted), I have still been reading it and wondering how the hell I still have an apetite. (Some of it I consider printed epicac and reasons I'm still inclined to find a nice comfortable cave while waiting for Armegeddon to miss us again.)
But, then again, I will run into a story that makes my day, week, or year(s).
That happened today when I read about a fund raiser that sends poor children to summer camp. I don't live anywhere near the neighborhood these kids live, but I'm tempted to send money anyway. The hook of this story was x-rated fortune cookies.
According to the CNN story I just linked, there were 700 people at this event. However, there were only 80 left when the fortune cookies came rolling out. (If your luck is anything like mine, you would be one of the 620 that left early and missed the excitement. I would have been mad, too. I might have kept that fortune cookie and asked around to see if I could get more!)
Anyway, noble cause, bad taste in fortune cookies, and I'm hoping noone gets sued--these kids deserve to see something other than the bright lights and dark terrors of their lives.
